Aishwarya Rai was born on 1 November 1973 in Mangalore, Karnataka. She is the second child of a former Army biologist, Krishnaraj, and a housewife, Vrinda. From a very young age, Ash started her training in classical dance and music.
Aish studied at Arya Vidya Mandir High School. Then she went to Jai Hind College and DG Ruparel College for the intermediate. Though she got admitted to Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture, she dropped out from there to start her career.

Aishwarya Rai made her first appearance in 1993 in the modeling of a Pepsi advertisement. Amir Khan, one of the Bollywood’s most popular celebrities today, was her co-actor in that commercial. She won the crown of Miss World in 1994.
Ash performed in herfirst movie in 1997 and it was a Tamil movie called "Iruvar". Her first Bollywood appearance was in the same year in a romantic comedy called "Aur Pyar Ho Gaya". She got an award for Best Female Debut for her role in “Aur Pyar Ho Gaya.”
