Elizabeth Warren was born on 22 June 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She has three other siblings, of which, she is the youngest. Her mother, Pauline Louise, is a homemaker and her father, Donald Jones Herring, was a flight instructor at the US Army during the second world war.
The family lived in Normal, Oklahoma for few years before moving back to Oklahoma City and Warren was just 11 years old then. Her father had a heart attack in the next year and had to leave his sales job at Montgomery Ward. He had to work as a maintenance man for an apartment building. Her mother started working in Sears to support the family. At the age of 13, Warren started waiting at her aunt’s restaurant.
At her 18, she married James Robert ‘Jim’ Warren whom she had met in high school. The couple moved to Houston as Jim was employed by IBM. Warren attended the University of Houston and graduated from there with a Bachelor of Science degree in speech pathology and audiology in 1970.
In 1977-78 Warren became a lecturer at Rutgers University after studying law for several years. In 1987, she became a full professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She also became the highest-paid professor at Harvard.
