Russell Crowe was born on 7 April 1964 in the Wellington suburb of Strathmore Park, New Zealand. He is the son of Jocelyn Yvonne and John Alexander Crowe. Both of his parents were film set caterers. His father, John, also managed a hotel. Russell probably got the inspiration for acting from his parent’s career.

When Russell was four years old, the family shifted to Sydney, Australia. He appeared on screen for the first time in one episode of the Australian TV series Spyforce when he was only five or six years old.
